Why was Jennylyn Mercado not nominated for Best Actress?
The part of Rosario is a role of a lifetime. It is a difficult one that called for a long preparation and a series of workshops. That required her to look coquettish and flirtatious.
The judges didn’t see that on screen. For heaven’s sake, she doesn’t even know how to hold a cigarette — when the character is supposed to be ahead of her time and one who smokes and smokes like it’s second nature to her character.

i really don't think this is the real reason..even the teaser can attracts the viewers..
Boooh, what a lame excuse, is that really the point of being a good actress, MMFF has become a perya in the recent years, focusing mostly into slap stick comedy. Whatever happened to the likes of RIZAL, MANO PO, MURO AMI, BAGONG BUWAN, and it sorts? If they have focus on family centered Film as a criterion, then ROSARIO and DALAW SHAKE RATTLE and ROLL were indeed misnominated. ROSARIO was rated A by the CINEMA EVALUATION BOARD (really dont know the exact name of it) and damn, what happened? It was robbed, I have nothing against the winners, I am against the sudden change of criteria.Practically in my Opinion, Jury were incompetent (okay maybe not all of em) but mostly......Okay I just said my piece, you could either hate me or take my opinion as a way of practicing my democracy
what kind of reason is that? if you were to ask me.. Jennylyn is the BEST ACTRESS.. Is the new criteria for being nominated in the best actress award is HOLDING A CIGARETTE?? what kind of reason is that? its like a childish reason.. I have nothing against the winner. my point is just it is NOT A VALID reason..its just my opinion..

kasi napanuod ko na both and mas convincing yung acting ni ai ai sa TANGING INA than jennylyn's ROSARIO. hindi po porket drama eh dun kukunin yung best actress kung ganun din, dapat puro drama na lang diba?
hindi rin maganda music ng ROSARIO -- mas maganda ung music ng RPG: METANOIA.

Hindi lng pag iyak ang basehan niyan,dapat kung best actress ka makikita mo tlga kung gaano ka ka versatile sa role mo mapa comedy mn o drama. eh kung sa drama dramahan lng kaya rin nmn ni ai ai ewan ko lng kung kaya ni jennylyn magpatawa ng kagaya ni ai ai. kung gusto niyo kayo nlng mag judge sa susunod na MMFF. hindi ko idol c ai ai pero hanga ako sa galing nya kaya niya umarte kahit ano genre. kesyo hindi nanalo bet niyo mag also balotan na kaagad kayu.

they just changed the ruling and the panel of judges. napanuod ko iyon sa sinehan nung nanuod ako ng MY AMNESIA GIRL -- (which i think is maganda rin kung sinali sa mmff) na they'll gonna include the mass sa jury. a student, housewife, jeepney driver pa ata and a whole lot more. and first time pa lang naman po ng TV5 eh. better luck nxt time. marami pa namang pangalan ng bulaklak dyan eh. SAMPAGUITA, ROSAL, BOUGAINVILLA -- try nyo baka bumenta. haha
bea was the first choice para sa role. siguro kung sya yung gumanap, mas malaki ang chance na manalo ng best actress.

regardless of who is the actress and what is the genre of the movie, the best actress must be given to the actress who have best portrayed the role as required by the film. Jennylyn's role in Rosario might be an award-winning magnet one, but keenly observe, she can't even hold the cigarette right. Technicalities are curated bit by bit to know who really has played her character best. unfortunately, jennylyn's mishap of satisfying the minute or even 'lame' criterion of holding a cigarette is one of the technicalities watched by the judges. when she failed to assume the identity of her character, she already had failed to play her character. therefore, she fell short of being the best.
indi nman ang issue dito ay kung sino ang deserve na manalo ng best actress.. ang issue dito ay bakit ndi nanominate si jennelyn sa best actress category na syang early favorite ng mga press para manalo??
Ang tanga tanga ng butch francisco nya yan.. Just bec. jen doesnt know how to properly hold a cigarette and is not flirtatious enough ? iba ang paghawak ng sigarilyo noon at iba din ang dating ng kalandian noong 1920's!

grabe i know it is too late mmff halatang nabili ang best actress spot ng kung sino man, paghawak lang ng cigarrete ang reason bakit hindi nanominate si jen? very pathetic. hindi acceptable may iba pang rason marahil nabili nga. and magaling talaga si jen as i have watched the movie. pwede naman inominate si jen at hindi itanghal na best actress. there was a dirty moves behind that. ang babaw dahil sa sigarilyo amp. even the director hindi nanominate may personal na galit siguro ang mmff.
