Cinema One, in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Film Institute, present the special screening of Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez's film "Tsardyer" on January 26, Wedenesday, 3PM, at the U.P. Cine Adarna.
Loosely based on the kidnapping of a broadcast journalist and her crew, the film shows a 10-year-old Tausug boy named Shihab used by the Abu Sayyaf group to "charge" the cellphones they use in negotiating for their demands for the release of their captives. Things take a strange turn when the journalist befriends Shihab and earns his trust as Shihab finds himself torn between his loyalty to his Tausug brothers and the bond he has forged with his new-found friends.
This is Sanchez's third indie film after doing "Lasponggols" for the 1st Cinemalaya in 2005 and "Ang Anak Ni Brocka" for the first Cinema One Originals also at the same year.
"Tsardyer" stars Dimples Romana, Neil Ryan Sese, Shamaine Centenera Buencamino, Dido dela Paz, Mon Confiado, Bombi Plata, Raul Morit, Frank Corona, Leon Miguel, Aileen Surian, Jeff Fernandez, Gigi Pirote, Moises Magisa, Rene Guan, and introducing Martin delos Santos and Pipo Alfad III.
