The romantic movie “Till My Heartaches End” from Star Cinema starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson has now earned more than P50 million on its second week run from 75 theaters nationwide. This is according to the latest figures posted by Box Office Mojo Philippines.

The movie is now up 3 places from no. 13 last week and now at no. 10 which shared places with another Star Cinema Movie entitled ‘Sa’Yo Lamang’ in terms of box office sales in the list of Top Grossing Pinoy Movies for 2010. Can the movie of KIMERALD exceed the final gross of Anne, Claudine and Richard’s In Your Eyes? What do you think?

Meanwhile the suspense-horror movie from Regal Films entitled “White House” starring Gabby Concepcion grossed more than P21.58 million on its 3rd week run from 48 screens nationwide. White House surpassed the final gross of another Regal Films movie, ‘Mamarazzi’ placing the horror movie now on the 15th spot.

Now that the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival run is over, we bring you the final ranking of the highest-grossing pinoy films of the year.

The Star Cinema and Viva Films co-production, “You Changed My Life”, is the no. 1 local movie of 2009 and the only Pinoy film in history to surpassed the P200 million mark at the box office. The movie also sealed the box office king and queen status of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo for second year in a row.

In second place is the Vilma Santos comeback movie In My Life and in third place is the megastar and comedy queen starrer Best Friends Forever. Both films were produced by Star Cinema.

The 23-year-old heartthrob earned relatively small salaries in films

ASTIG LEADS TICKET SALES. Over lunch, public relations head Irene Rada disclosed the ticket sales of the Cinemalaya main competition entries, with Astig leading the list.

During the premiere night of Astig last Saturday, July 18, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) talked with Direk GB Sampedro regarding his directorial debut. "Hindi pa nagsi-sink in sa akin," he admitted.

This is the first time that GB (short for Giuseppe Bede) has helmed a full-length film but he is currently the director of the ABS-CBN morning show Ruffa and Ai.

Astig has a lot of daring scenes (including four love scenes, one of which is a man-to-man scene between Gardo Versoza and Arnold Reyes). However, Direk GB stressed that all of them were done in good taste.



"Ako naman I have a feeling na yung pagka-ka-execute ko naman sa mga eksenang sabihin na nating pang-matured audience, tama lang at hindi ganun ka-laswa. Kailangan lang ng eksena. Hindi naman tayo um-over sa dapat."

Some people have commented that his film seems like a tribute to Manila By Night (City After Dark) helmed by Ishmael Bernal. Did he have a conscious effort to do this?

"Actually, may mga nagsabi sa akin nun pero to be honest with you, hindi ko napanood. Sabi nga nila, sa tema, e, nagkikita-kita kami pero salamat naman din at maganda naman ang reception nila."

Sukob is no longer the highest-grossing local movie in Philippine history. The new record-holder is the MMFF entry “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” starring Ai Ai delas Alas with a final gross of P197 million in six weeks.

But the new record-holder is being threaten by another Star Cinema Movie. You Changed My Life, which is still showing nationwide, is posing a threat to Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat to be the all-time Top-Grossing Pinoy Film as it already accumalated P170 million in just two weeks of running.
