RVQ Production and Kaizz Ventures official movie entry in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is titled “Nobody Nobody But Juan” starring the comedy king Dolphy.

This Metro Manila Film Fest entry was originally titled “Juan” but when the Wondergirls song “Nobody” became a big hit, Dolphy himself suggested that they add “Nobody, Nobody” to the title.

SYNOPSIS: Nobody, Nobody But…Juan tells the story of a U.S.-based senior citizen named Juan (Dolphy) who lives in a senior home run by his son (Eric Quizon) and daughter-in-law (played by G Toengi). Juan’s favorite pastime is watching Wowowee on The Filipino Channel. However, he does not watch the show just for entertainment’s sake. Aside from wanting to connect with the Philippines that he dearly misses, Juan is lonesome for his first love Aida whom he lost touch with during the Japanese occupation of Manila. Wowowee is Juan’s way of coping with homesickness and reliving the past.

When watching Wowowee is banned in the senior home, Juan makes drastic measures to watch his favorite TV program. In his quest, he crosses paths with his old friend Tu (Eddie Garcia) who used to be his partner in the vaudeville duo Juan Tu. Pokwang is cast as the partner in crime of Tu.

Juan is then reunited with his long-lost love Aida (portrayed by Gloria Romero). Will they have a happy ending after all these years?

The young Aida is portrayed by Heart Evangelista, the young Juan is portrayed by Epy Quizon and the young Tu is portrayed by Vandolph Quizon.

Eugene Domingo plays a nurse who takes care of Juan in the senior home. Willie Revillame is also part of the movie as himself.

There is Juan in every Filipino as there is only one King of Philippine Comedy, Dolphy!

He is back in “Nobody, nobody but...Juan!” or “Juan” for short, the much-awaited official entry to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) which opens nationwide this Christmas, December 25. Directed by Dolphy’s son Eric Quizon from a screenplay by Bibeth Orteza and produced by Kaizz Ventures in partnership with RVQ Productions, “Juan” tells the story of US-based Juan (Dolphy), who lives in a senior home hooked on watching “Wowowee.”

“Juan” is Dolphy’s biggest project yet after the release of his bestselling bio-movie “Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa” and the phenomenal worldwide concert tour held in connection with the said bio. This heartwarming love story and family-centered comedy movie is also Dolphy’s first after more than a year. Previously, he was in 2008’s “Dobol Trobol” with ace comedian Vic Sotto.

The MMFF is “home” to many Dolphy hits, some of which are the acclaimed comedy-drama “Markova Comfort Gay” (for which he won a Best Actor Award at the 2001 Brussels International Film Festival), the environmental comedy “Home Along da Riber,” the family picture “Wanted Perfect Father,” the magical fantasy “Espadang Patpat (for which Dolphy received an MMFF Best Actor trophy), the epic “Once Upon A Time” and other wonderful films.

Partially inspired by the Oscar-winning picture “Slumdog Millionaire” wherein a TV show is a major character, it is the top-rating “Wowowee” which becomes a favorite of Juan and his co-residents in the nursing home run by his marriage-troubled son (Eric Quizon) and daughter-in-law (G Toengi).

Juan, however, does not watch the show just for entertainment’s sake. This grand love story encompasses the 1940s to the present, taking place between the United States and the Philippines. “Juan” is undoubtedly Dolphy’s biggest and most star-studded Metro Filmfest offering. Only “Juan” was able to assemble the most outstanding comedians in the country. Dolphy teams up inimitable Pokwang & Eugene Domingo plus respected dramatic actors Gloria Romero & Eddie Garcia as the Old Tu, Juan’s partner in the vaudaville duo Juan Tu, who are also known for their comedy prowess.

With a story inspired by the top-rating noontime show “Wowowee,” how can host-funnyman Willie Revillame not be part of it? And he is! Willie is said to be so honored to be in this Dolphy movie that he adjusted his schedule so he could shoot.

When principal photography started, the film was simply called “Juan.” But when the Wondergirls hit “Nobody, Nobody” became the ‘Kanta ng Bayan,’ the quick-witted Dolphy suggested adding “Nobody, nobody…” to the title. “And that’s how our movie became “Nobody, nobody but… Juan!” says Eric.

Heart Evangelista, Vandolf, Jeffrey Quizon, Metring David and Joe Aldeguer complete the cast.

With a catchy title, a heartwarming story and the number one comedian, “Nobody, nobody but...Juan!” must be your first pick when MMFF opens on Christmas!
