Supporters swarmed at SM Megamall Cinema 10 on Tuesday night for the red-carpet premiere of the first movie team-up of Star Magic's bankable John Lloyd Cruz and actress-host Toni Gonzaga.
In an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon, “My Amnesia Girl” lead stars Cruz and Gonzaga said they are overwhelmed by the support their fans showed, considering this is their first project together.
“Nakakatuwa kasi parang ito yung pinakamagandang tinanggap ng iba’t ibang mga fans club kasi bihira ‘yung ganito. Unang una ngayon pa lang kami nagsama sa pelikula pero ganito kalawak, kainit,” he said.
Gonzaga, on the other hand, shared how happy she is that they are able to impart to the audience the emotions they should be feeling throughout the movie.
“Kasabay kami ng audience na fini-feel namin ‘yung buong takbo ng pelikula dahil towards the end, natutuwa kami dahil naramdaman nila, naparamdam namin yung gustong maramdaman nila sa pelikula,” she said.
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, the movie is rated B by the Cinema Evaluation Board and rated General Patronage by the MTRCB.
This is Molina’s 6th movie with Cruz and 4th movie with Gonzaga - an indication that she knows the 2 well enough to bring out the best in them.
Spotted in the event were the cast’s celebrity friends such as Gio Alvarez, Zanjoe Marudo, Enchong Dee, Charie Pineda, Juris, and Valerie Concepcion.
Also there to grace the movie premiere were ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN Channel 2 head Cory Vidanes, Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos and veteran director Olive Lamasan.
“My Amnesia Girl” opens in theaters nationwide on Wednesday, November 24.
