No less than Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell continued the role of Heath Ledger in the fantasy film “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.”

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus follows the leader of a travelling theatre troupe who, having made a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations. It is directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam and Charles McKeown.

Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer, Lily Cole, and Tom Waits star in the film, though Ledger’s death one-third of the way through filming caused production to be temporarily suspended. Ledger’s role was recast with Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell portraying transformations of Ledger’s character Tony as he travels through a dream world.

The film opens today in Philippine theaters.

Clash of the Titans is an upcoming 2010 fantasy film which is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name, itself loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus.

The film is directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Sam Worthington. Filming began in April 2009 for release on March 26, 2010.

Topbilling the epic fantasy film are Sam Worthington as Perseus, Gemma Arterton as Io, Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Izabella Miko as Athena, Mads Mikkelsen as Draco, leader of the Praetorian Guard, Jason Flemyng as Calibos, and Alexa Davalos as Andromeda. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince registered a whopping P104.77 million on its opening weekend in 310 movie screens across the Philippines.

According to Click the City, the figure represents the all-time biggest four-day opening weekend in Philippine history beating the previous record of P103.87 million hauled by Transformers in 2007.

The Half-Blood Prince is also the fastest in the franchise to hit P100 million (the mark for a box-office hit in the Philippines), the fastest time. It reached P100 million in four days outpacing 2007’s “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” which achieved the feat in five days.

All of the 6 Harry Potter films have now earned P959 million and it’s now posed to be the first movie franchise to hit P1 billion in the country. The final two Harry Potter films are set to be shown in 2010 and 2011.

Breakout star Robert Pattinson was hit in the head by a piece of flying metal while shooting the movie New Moon according to reports.

“During filming of his upcoming flick, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” in Vancouver, Pattinson had just started shooting a scene when a rogue gust of violent wind tore a heavy metal sign from a post. It shot across the location so fast no one even managed to shout a warning at Pattinson, who was just opening his mouth to emote when…WHAM!…the unguided missile smashed into the back of his head,” said Mike Walker, a reporter of National Enquirer.

Walker narrated Pattinson dropped and “then lay deadly still as cast and crew ran to help, sending out a radio call for an ambulance. Finally, Pattinson - looking like he’d had the blood sucked from him - began moving feebly, disoriented, but able to speak. The crew put ice packs on a knot sized lump, and by the time medics arrived, the star was coherent and insisting he was fine. Taking no chances, the director canceled filming. Pattinson was ordered back to his hotel, but returned the next day - sporting a lump.”

The 22-year-old English actor became wildly popular after his Hollywood movie Twilight soared at the box-office worldwide.

All knows that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, based on the novel by J. K. Rowling, is the sixth part in the famous Harry Potter films series. Shooting of the film started on 04 September, 2007 and it was originally planned for a UK and US release on 21 November 2008, but on 14 August 2008, the new release date was announced that is on17 July, 2009.

Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability. The decision to move ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support. If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between ‘Half-Blood Prince’ and the much-anticipated first part of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ which opens in November 2010. So although we have to wait a little longer for ‘Half-Blood Prince,’ the wait from that film until ‘Deathly Hallows’ will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.”

From director J.J. Synopsis: “I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be.

The sequel to Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, New Moon may begin filming in March 2009, revealed by Twilight actress, Kristen Stewart, while having an interview with Ryan Seacrest on KiisFM.
Apart from when the shooting may begin, the 18-year-old also gushed about where some of the filming will take place. "A lot of the book takes place in Italy, and I think we're going to get to go to Italy, which is so cool," she said, adding, "For a while there, they were like, 'oh, we don't know if we have the money', but now I think we may have the money!"


"New Moon" is an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's second novel in her Twilight series. While "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke is rumored to be in talks to return helming the sequel, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has been set to come back and pen the script for this second movie. Earlier report has also claimed that both leading actors, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, will earn $12 million each for "New Moon".

LOS ANGELES -- Vampire fever is poised to sink its teeth into audiences across North America on Friday as the big-screen adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's best-selling young adult novel "Twilight" hits cinemas.

The eagerly anticipated movie has created a hysteria amongst teenage fans not seen since boy wizard Harry Potter made his Hollywood debut in 2001.

Preview screenings and premieres of "Twilight," based on the first in a series of four books by Meyer launched in 2005, have been marked by crowds of screaming teenage fans desperate to take a bite out of the film's stars.

Midnight screenings of the film are among nearly 2,000 shows across the United States that have been sold out, putting the film on course for a blockbuster opening weekend in North America.

The film revolves around a 17-year-old loner Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who moves from Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington where she falls in love with a vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) at her new high school.

Unlike traditional Hollywood vampire incarnations, the floppy-haired, Byronesque, Cullen refuses to feed on humans on ethical grounds, preferring to drink only the blood of animals -- making him a "vegetarian."

Meyer's novels have spawned an ardent following -- an estimated 17 million readers worldwide -- hooked by the story of forbidden love and their struggle to escape the clutches of evil, rogue vampires.

Those fans have mobbed the film's stars wherever they have appeared in public this week.

British actor Pattinson, 22, whose previous biggest role was a part in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," admits that the level of "Twilight-mania" has surprised him.

"It is a little nuts," said Pattinson after teenagers queued from 6am outside the venue for the Los Angeles premiere of the film this week. "It's been like this for a week now. I’ve gone deaf."

The arrival of "Twilight" is the latest example of the entertainment industry's enduring fascination with vampires, who have come a long way since Bela Lugosi first climbed out of his coffin in 1931's "Dracula."

The film's premiere also coincides with the successful first season of HBO television series "True Blood", a drama set in Louisiana which chronicles the problems of vampires trying to co-exist alongside humans.

According to Eric Nuzum, author of "The Dead Travel Fast," a study of society's lust for vampires, "Twilight" follows in the tradition of other pop-culture tales such as "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," and "The Lost Boys."

"Very rarely are vampire stories about vampires," Nuzum told USA Today.

"They are often about desire, love, forbidden pleasures, forbidden fears that people are too scared or embarrassed to admit. Put it in the guise of a vampire, and you can talk about it.

"They are the perfect metaphor for anything that challenges you or makes you lose control. You create a creature with absolute control."

A reviewer of Salon.com meanwhile says the success of Meyer's novels lies in their ability to tap timeless themes.

"They summon a world in which love is passionate, yet (relatively) chaste, girls need be nothing more than fetchingly vulnerable and masterful men can be depended upon to protect and worship them for it."

Or as Vanity Fair columnist James Wolcott summarized: "'Twilight' is the 'Brideshead Revisited' of the fanged and forever young."

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY begs any number of referential mash-ups to be used as description of its outlandish tonal and stylistic qualities. It's a little like a romantic and sophisticated live-action Ninja Turtles movie imbued with a cracked version of H.P. Lovecraft's monster storytelling. It's a feature-length version of STAR WARS's Mos Eisley Cantina mixed with a scrappy, proficient passion for creature design reminiscent of Ray Harryhausen. It's also kind of director/co-writer Guillermo del Toro's HELLBOY (2004) wrapped in a blanket of his PAN'S LABYRINTH.



As Hellboy himself, a heartfelt anti-hero who regularly eliminates supernatural threat as an agent for the U.S. Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense alongside girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair) and comrade Abe Sapien, Ron Perlman again embodies the role with the kind of pathos and humor that one can only expect from a horned, red-skinned Hell-spawn who loves kittens and acts like a hardboiled detective who happens to watch TV and drink a lot of canned beer.

HELLBOY II's rather interesting antagonist, Prince Nuada, isn't just an evil dude. In the mold of the complex villains typically found in Hayao Miyazaki's animated fairy tales, his intentions of restoring control over Earth to an Elvish race by regaining the key to unlock the indestructible Golden Army are at least based on a legitimately noble sentiment before megalomania kicks in.




Under Broom's tutelage, the creature develops empathy and a desire to do good while his physical powers and paranormal talents are honed to a fine point. Sixty years later, the demon, now known as Hellboy (Ron Perlman), is part of an elite secret defense team alongside Liz Sherman (Selma Blair), a beautiful young woman who can create fire with her mind, and Abe Sapian (Doug Jones), an aquatic humanoid with the power of telepathy. Despite his many years of fighting for right, Hellboy finds himself facing his greatest challenge when the powerful Rasputin returns, determined to bring the demon back to the forces of darkness so that evil may finally rule the world.
