LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The next James Bond movie will be delayed indefinitely due to "uncertainty" from the still unfinished auction of MGM, the movie studio behind the film series, producers said on Monday.
The so far untitled movie, which will be the 23rd in the series about the British spy, had been due for release in 2011 or 2012.
James Bond is one of MGM's most lucrative franchises.
But Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producers of James Bond, said in a joint statement, "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely."
The two producers added that they do not know when development of the film will resume and when it will be released in theaters.
A representative for MGM could not be reached for comment.
MGM last year began exploring a potential sale of itself, and sources said in March the company received a $1.5 billion bid from Time Warner Inc.
It was the highest bid received for MGM, but still below the $2 billion or more that the storied Hollywood studio had initially hoped to receive, and it could still file for bankruptcy, sources have said.

Taking the lead role of Richard, a gangster running away from the murderous City Death Squad, Felix shows an undeniable range and versatility for what many call one of the most challenging performances ever taken on by an actor. Because Engkwentro was shot a la one continuous take, Felix styled his performance like a stageplay – memorizing all his lines and deeply internalizing his character. With no room for mistakes, Felix delved into the role – doing his own stunts and narrowly avoiding injuries on set.
In order to prepare for his performance, Felix drew from his own past experiences. A former fraternity member, Felix overcame his “wild” younger days and has now transformed himself into a very professional, serious actor. He wants young viewers to follow his example of conquering challenges and chasing dreams.
Felix Roco topbills the award-winning indie film, ENGKWENTRO – in theaters December 11, 12 & 13 at SM Cinemas in Mall of Asia, North Edsa, MegaMall, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Bacoor. Inspired by true events, Engkwentro follows the last 24 hours of two teenage brothers on opposite sides of a gang war. With a career-making performance by young heartthrob Felix Roco and directed by 22-year-old Pepe Diokno, the film took home two awards at September’s Venice Film Festival — including the Horizons Prize for new trends in cinema, and the US$ 100,000 Lion of the Future – “Luigi de Laurentiis” Award for best debut film.

One hour ago, I was inside Glorietta 4 Cinema 3 attending the premiere of “Dragonball Evolution”. As I walk out of the movie house, it felt as if my childhood is flushed down the drain. “Dragon Ball” (spelled as two words in the original Japanese series, take note of that Hollywood) is not just a hit TV series or a best-selling comic book. It’s a phenomenon. It’s my childhood. Days spent anticipating each episode. Daily allowances put aside to save money to buy action figures and other memorabilia. Moments spent playing Goku and beating the hell out of younger brother as if he is Cell. And now, this movie adaptation comes along to besmirch my fond memories of my favorite anime ever. OK, I’m starting to sound like an abused kid. Inhale. Exhale.
When buzz about “Dragon Ball” being considered to be given a red carpet treatment by Hollywood execs started to circulate in the grapevine, it felt surreal. Shit man, we are talking about the pioneer of anime craze in Asia. While others were skeptical, I was excited. I never paid attention to criticisms that Hollywood will make a mess out of it as it had done in a number of remakes. But as ‘leaks’ regarding the storyline, the characters, and the dudes who will be a part of the cast were revealed, my excitement slowly turned into worry.
“Dragon Ball” in the hands of Hollywood didn’t feel right. They were doing it all wrong. Master Roshi’s hair is gray and he’s wearing a pseudo-turtle shell backpack in the anime. Where is Goku’s tail and youth? He is not a teenager attending high school with the normal brats. Goku is a kid and he is quite barbaric, so to speak. And his hair is not spiky enough! So as the day of the film’s release came closer, I was sure the movie is gonna suck.
But as everyone else who were fans of the series, there was no denying that there was still this smidgen of hope that the movie will live up to the name of the source material. At the least, there was this curiosity on how Hollywood will turn this legendary tale into a live-action film.
Before, I thought those Harry Potter fanatics were nuts for not getting tired of posting derogatory comments on forums saying over and over again that the movie failed to give justice to JK Rowling’s novel. If that was the case, then why don’t they just skip the film? Now, I understand them. So before this review turns into a reflection paper of sorts about my childhood, here are some random critiques of the film:
1. Since they’ve already Americanized the story, I don’t see the point of casting a bunch of Asian actors. I especially hated that dumbass who played Yamcha. Is he Korean? God! I knew it!
2. Following the lead of films like “Babel” and “Crash”. “Dragonball Evoution” tried to have as much diversity in the cast as possible – there’s a black guy, Americans, and Asians who may probably be Chinese, Singaporean, Malaysian, and Korean. All for the glory of racial chopsuey. No problem with that per se, but in this film, it felt odd. The setting is in US (which looks like a deserted Mexico) for crying out loud. And since when did blacks start saying ‘namaste’ while dressed as Buddhist monks? WTF!
3. This is not the “Dragon Ball” we all fell in love with. They ripped off the concept of the seven dragon balls that when gathered together can summon a powerful dragon to grant one wish. They imitated the characters’ names and some of their traits. But the Goku that we know is not the Goku we’re seeing here, neither is Bulma nor Chi Chi.
4. They borrowed random bits and pieces of the anime and slapped it all together in a confusing, incoherent mƩlange and then called it a movie.
5. The effects were bad. The production design is subpar. The acting is sloppy. Plenty of scenes were unintentionally funny. There were cringe-worthy moments. The cheesiness level is set at a maximum. The scriptwriter must have been watching too much “High School Musical”. And I almost farted due to over-flatulence.
6. And don’t ever, ever forget the numerous plotholes. So many, I lost count. These characters’ actions are not governed by any form of logic and reason. They just do what the story calls for. Once again, sacrificing logic for convenience.
Towards the end of the film when Goku was about to unleash his signature technique, the ‘kame-hame-ha’, I was shaken by a gust of nostalgia. When I was a kid, I always know Goku will win the battle after his ‘kame-hame-ha’ hits his opponent. This time around, nobody won. I really hoped they have never attempted to touch this franchise so that my childhood memories of “Dragon Ball” were left untarnished. Too late, the damage has been done. I’ll sue these motherfuckers!
Was 'Surprise of a Lifetime'

Many people were stunned by the news last week that Don Cheadle, and not Terrence Howard, would be playing the role of James "Rhodey" Rhodes in "Iron Man 2." None more so, apparently, than Terrence Howard himself.
Howard recently spoke to NPR to promote his first album, "Shine Through It," and the topic of being replaced in the sequel to the hugely popular comic book adaptation came about. And the Oscar-nominated actor sounded as confused as anyone about the rationale behind the change.
"It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation, [it] just up and vanished. And I read something in the trades that implicated it was about money... but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on sometimes. And promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up." Hear the full interview >>
Marvel Studios, who produced "Iron Man," offered no comment when the story originally broke. But The Hollywood Reporter spoke to sources who stated that negotiations with the actor "fell through over financial differences," which Howard disputes.
The announcement especially confused fans of the comic book since it is widely believed the character of Rhodey will have a bigger part in the sequel. Towards the end of the first film, Rhodes looked at Tony Stark's second attempt at the Iron Man armor, the silver "Mark II" version, and said to himself, "Next time, baby." This was a hint that Rhodes would get his own armor, just like he did in the comics. His upgraded and more heavily armed suit goes by the name War Machine, and concept designs for the character have already been created.
Don Cheadle, an Oscar nominee in his own right, has not issued a statement about the casting. Cheadle and Howard both appeared in the 2005 Best Picture winner "Crash." Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow are both expected to return for the sequel, as is director Jon Favreau.
For his part, Howard doesn't seem to be holding onto any grudges. He is touring in support of his album, a collection of self-penned, jazz-inspired tunes on which he sings and plays guitar. He told NPR he is trying to hold onto the calm nature he developed growing up in a tough neighborhood.
"I found a peacefulness in me, though, that -- even in getting slapped when I was a little kid, when I would get attacked -- even though I was strong enough to stop it I would never hit back, back then... Even now, I didn't hit back."
"Iron Man 2" is scheduled to open May 7, 2010.

"Fast & Furious" left the competition in the dust with a $72.5 million opening weekend, the best so far this year.
That topped last weekend's $59.3 million debut for DreamWorks Animation's "Monsters vs. Aliens," which slipped to second place with $33.5 million, raising its 10-day total to $105.7 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
Universal's "Fast & Furious" also raced to a record for April debuts, easily passing the previous best of $42.2 million set in 2003 by "Anger Management."
It was a blockbuster opening more customary to summer. But Hollywood has been extending its busy season more and more by placing summer-style flicks earlier in the year.
"It's summer time in April," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box office tracker Media By Numbers. "We've seen the summer season stretch from what used to be Memorial Day through Labor Day, then the first of May through Labor Day. Now maybe with `Fast & Furious,' it's going to be early April as the beginning of summer."
The wolves are now complete. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Summit Entertainment has cast Native American actors Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Spencer is Lakota (Sioux), Pelletier is Cree-Metis, Meraz is Purepecha (Tarasco), Gordon is Hualapai and Houseman is Cree.
The five actors will join original cast member Taylor Lautner in portraying the wolf pack in New Moon, in which the pack defends humans against vampires. I guess Vanessa Hudgens didn’t win the female wolf’s role.
And of course, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will be back reprising their Twilight roles as Bella and Edward. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will be replaced by Chris Weitz (American Pie, About a Boy, The Golden Compass) in New Moon.
Twilight Saga: New Moon is set for a November 2009 release.

All knows that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, based on the novel by J. K. Rowling, is the sixth part in the famous Harry Potter films series. Shooting of the film started on 04 September, 2007 and it was originally planned for a UK and US release on 21 November 2008, but on 14 August 2008, the new release date was announced that is on17 July, 2009.
In respect of the new release date many controversies have been raised and for that reason president & Chief Operating Officer of Warner Bros. production, Alan Horn gave a speech which is following
“Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ to summer 2009. Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability. The decision to move ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support. If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between ‘Half-Blood Prince’ and the much-anticipated first part of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ which opens in November 2010. So although we have to wait a little longer for ‘Half-Blood Prince,’ the wait from that film until ‘Deathly Hallows’ will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.”
The only released official trailer of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is supplied here with some good movie images. All are free to download.

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.
Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.
Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings.
As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

In one of his interview Spielberg told that someday somehow Jurassic Park IV will be released and he will produce the film. Now the time has come my friend, Jurassic Park 4 will release in next year, that’s for sure, but maximum information about the film in web are rumors, some are true. Here we are sharing those information which are either officially known or those who have been confirmed as totally right information about the film.
First of all we should say that still any official movie trailer haven’t released, all the teaser or theatrical trailers are available in the web are completely fake, some are fan made and others are created by taking some good scenes from previous Jurassic Park series. The official and real Jurassic Park IV trailer will be eye-catching and exciting, so wait for the original trailer and as soon as the original trailer will release that will be available in this site.
Remember Laura Dern, who played the role of Dr. Ellie Sattler in the first part of JP series, missed out in second part and again came back in a guest appearance in Jurassic Park 3; she will reprise his role as Dr. Ellie Sattler for the forth franchise of Jurassic Park film. Her role has been confirmed for Jurassic Park IV.
This time a new screenwriter William Monahan, who was not at all related for previous JP series, was hired to write JP 4 and so he has written the new film.
Steven Spielberg, who is mainly the creator of Jurassic Park, will perform the role as an executive producer for the forth series.
Frank Marshall, the famous producer, who has produced many legendary movies like Indiana Jones series, The Bourne series, Signs, The Sixth Sense etc., is one of the main producers of JP IV.
Richard Attenborough has been contacted for the role of John Hammond. He had performed the same role for the first two series, but was missed out in the third part.
But the biggest problem is that who is going to direct Jurassic Park IV, will it be Joe Johnston, the director of Jurassic Park III, or will it be Spielberg himself, the great director, or will it be someone else. For other main roles who will be appointed. Final report was that Joe Johnston definitely will not direct the JP4. So, all the answers of these questions are still in dark. The answers we will get very soon because the shooting has been started already and has a 2009 release. So, we can believe on that.
Oh, by the way some good movie posters are available in the web, so we have supplied them here, but we can’t take any responsibility of it’s originality, may be all of them are fake. So, trusting on those posters are totally your responsibility.

As revealed in this first trailer, every character in the upcoming Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li has been thoroughly douched up and dumbed down for Hollywood audiences. Despite games rapidly outpacing movies and movies frantically taking ideas from games, Hollywood still takes a condescending attitude towards video game characters. It’s Van Damme’s Street Fighter movie all over again, minus Raul Julia’s enjoyably megalomanic Bison.

LOS ANGELES -- Vampire fever is poised to sink its teeth into audiences across North America on Friday as the big-screen adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's best-selling young adult novel "Twilight" hits cinemas.
The eagerly anticipated movie has created a hysteria amongst teenage fans not seen since boy wizard Harry Potter made his Hollywood debut in 2001.
Preview screenings and premieres of "Twilight," based on the first in a series of four books by Meyer launched in 2005, have been marked by crowds of screaming teenage fans desperate to take a bite out of the film's stars.
Midnight screenings of the film are among nearly 2,000 shows across the United States that have been sold out, putting the film on course for a blockbuster opening weekend in North America.
The film revolves around a 17-year-old loner Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who moves from Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington where she falls in love with a vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) at her new high school.
Unlike traditional Hollywood vampire incarnations, the floppy-haired, Byronesque, Cullen refuses to feed on humans on ethical grounds, preferring to drink only the blood of animals -- making him a "vegetarian."
Meyer's novels have spawned an ardent following -- an estimated 17 million readers worldwide -- hooked by the story of forbidden love and their struggle to escape the clutches of evil, rogue vampires.
Those fans have mobbed the film's stars wherever they have appeared in public this week.
British actor Pattinson, 22, whose previous biggest role was a part in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," admits that the level of "Twilight-mania" has surprised him.
"It is a little nuts," said Pattinson after teenagers queued from 6am outside the venue for the Los Angeles premiere of the film this week. "It's been like this for a week now. I’ve gone deaf."
The arrival of "Twilight" is the latest example of the entertainment industry's enduring fascination with vampires, who have come a long way since Bela Lugosi first climbed out of his coffin in 1931's "Dracula."
The film's premiere also coincides with the successful first season of HBO television series "True Blood", a drama set in Louisiana which chronicles the problems of vampires trying to co-exist alongside humans.
According to Eric Nuzum, author of "The Dead Travel Fast," a study of society's lust for vampires, "Twilight" follows in the tradition of other pop-culture tales such as "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," and "The Lost Boys."
"Very rarely are vampire stories about vampires," Nuzum told USA Today.
"They are often about desire, love, forbidden pleasures, forbidden fears that people are too scared or embarrassed to admit. Put it in the guise of a vampire, and you can talk about it.
"They are the perfect metaphor for anything that challenges you or makes you lose control. You create a creature with absolute control."
A reviewer of Salon.com meanwhile says the success of Meyer's novels lies in their ability to tap timeless themes.
"They summon a world in which love is passionate, yet (relatively) chaste, girls need be nothing more than fetchingly vulnerable and masterful men can be depended upon to protect and worship them for it."
Or as Vanity Fair columnist James Wolcott summarized: "'Twilight' is the 'Brideshead Revisited' of the fanged and forever young."

REVIEW
Back before digital downloads became all the rage, music lovers had to go to record stores to buy CDs of their favourite artists and bands. Before the CD, there were audio tapes, eight-track tapes and older still, vinyl records.
In every record, there are usually two or three really good tracks that get repeated listens, another two or three that are halfway decent and the rest are what is known as filler. The numbers could vary for some albums depending on the listener, but in the end, there’s always that one song in the album that makes you scratch your head and skip to the next song.
Which brings me to the latest James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" starring craggy Daniel Craig. My expectations for this movie were high especially after the masterful "Casino Royale" in Craig’s first outing as Bond showed us a superspy who was equal parts finesse and ferocity. One thing going for this movie is that it directly references the events of Casino Royale, making it the first true Bond sequel in the franchise’s history.
Quantum of Solace is a mixed bag, equal parts thriller and filler that pops and crackles but never quite engages in the same way that Casino did. It plants seeds for the next great Bond film without actually being that film because of hackneyed plotting, boring characters and lack of a decent threat for the world’s foremost spy.
The film starts promisingly enough, though. Bond (Craig) beats some bad guys in a car chase to bring the enigmatic Mr. White (whom we last saw at the end of Casino) to Italy for a protracted interrogation scene. "The first thing you should know is that we have people everywhere," smirks Mr. White before M’s (Judi Dench) bodyguard shoots at the other agents, including M.
Bond pursues M’s bodyguard in a rooftop parkour sequence that’s ripped straight from the Bourne Ultimatum but is much better than the overtly long chase at the beginning of "Casino Royale." To its credit, the betrayal does show how high the stakes are and builds on the relationship between Bond and M.
"Impress me," intones M and the movie does, at least in the first few reels. Using information gathered by MI6, Bond zips to Port Au Prince, Haiti to follow a lead on the White case and ends up literally killing that lead in brutal hand-to-hand combat. Thirty minutes in, we’re already getting quite a body count. "Slate was a dead end," Bond deadpans and for once, we forget to smirk because this Bond seems to enjoy his license to kill a bit too much.
We are then introduced to Camille Montes (Olga Kurylenko), the obligatory Bond girl who is seducing the movie’s main bad guy Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric) in order to kill would-be dictator General Medrano. It seems that White’s and Greene’s supersecret organization appropriately called Quantum is in bed with the Bolivian general to topple his government in exchange for a piece of desert property.
Camille’s plan to kill Medrano is foiled by Bond, which leads to a brutal speedboat chase that’s as bone-crunching as the car chase at the start of the film. One thing to say about this Bond – he sure treats his vehicles like blunt instruments. He also doesn’t care about doing a little B&E and even once steals an idle vehicle.
The scene then moves to Austria where the stakes go even higher as the CIA joins forces with Greene and places a hit on Bond. At this point, we are reminded again why we love Bond movies so much because of what it offers -- exotic locales, amorphous world threats and adrenaline-pumping action. When Bond kills a henchman of one of the Quantum members, he earns the ire of MI6 and has to go solo as he tries to stop Greene’s plan to corner the water services market in Bolivia. Yup, this Bond baddie is less a megalomaniac and more a ruthless businessman who likes to play Monopoly for real.
It is here though that the movie starts losing steam. Part of the problem is that the action scenes in the latter half of the movie feel rushed and fail to excite as much as the first three sequences in the movie. We get short bursts of action such as Bond jumping off a plane without a parachute and his stealthy escape sequence from military commandos but not much payoff.
Even a daring elevator escape a la Die Hard 3 is done too quickly, as if the director forgot that the best action sequences are when the camera lingers long enough for the aftermath before moving on to the next locale.
The bad guy’s motivations also leave something to be desired. Greene wants to get the whole MWSS franchise in Bolivia? Not very thrilling, sorry. For some reason, Casino’s poker games seem more menacing than Quantum’s plan of eco-terrorism simply because we can imagine all sorts of terrible things a bad guy could do with $120 million.
Finally, the Bond girl’s subplot to kill the Bolivian general felt unnecessary to the story. True, Camille’s motivation for revenge echoes Bond’s inconsolable rage over Vesper’s betrayal in "Casino." We also know that the evil general will get his comeuppance at the end of the film but must it be done in such an unimaginative manner? When Bond does put a coda to his own revenge plot, we are past the point of caring because we already forgot that he was pursuing that lead in the first place.
So what we have here is a Bond movie that's only half decent but not very memorable, like those odd numbered Star Trek films. Let’s hope that the next movie will fare better. Source
